We build brands
that improve lives.
Phronesis is a Mongolian health company — phronesis (wisdom) + viva (life). We build healthcare brands grounded in science, trust and real outcomes for real people.
The name
Practical wisdom — knowing the right thing to do here, now, for real people — and actually doing it.
The name behind the name
Phronesis is the parent company — the operating entity, the infrastructure, the OS. Phroniva is the health division: phronesis fused with viva, Latin for life. Practical wisdom, applied to health. That is the whole idea.
Mongolians want to live healthier. But preventive health is still an afterthought. Information is noisy, products are hard to trust, and quality care is out of reach for most people.
We built a commercial engine that funds the mission: the retail business pays for the education. The education builds the trust. The trust grows the business.

We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence, then, is not an act — but a habit.
Aristotle defined phronesis — practical wisdom — as the highest virtue in the Nicomachean Ethics. Not abstract knowledge, but the capacity to act rightly with real people, in real conditions, every single day.
That is the idea Phroniva was built on. Not just knowing what is good — but doing it.
Who we are
Built to never wait for a donor again
We tried grants. We tried NGO models. Neither lasted. So in 2020, two founders in Ulaanbaatar decided to build the business that funds the mission itself — permanently. Every experiment since then has made us sharper.
Founded with one conviction
Odgerel Tergel and Purevsuren Buman-Ayush incorporate Phronesis in Ulaanbaatar. One conviction: preventive health in Mongolia needs a commercial engine, not a grant. The health division — Phroniva — is born from the idea of phronesis plus life.
LAC & Health Investor — the core
We become the official master franchisee of LAC Global, a Singapore supplement brand with 250+ stores worldwide. Health Investor launches as Mongolia’s first science-based health media platform. These two become the company’s foundation.
Three experiments: Beautify, Adora, Sonos Books
We launch an AI skin analysis app, a zero-plastic toothpaste brand, and a Mongolian audiobook platform. Each teaches us something the textbooks can’t — about distribution, about trust, about what Mongolians actually buy. All three are paused. None are regrets.
The operating system
We finish building our 22-app integrated OS: self-hosted ERP, LMS, team chat, AI store supervision, n8n automation. A 19-person team now runs operations that most companies would need 80 people for. The infrastructure becomes our competitive edge.
Selected for ACYF Acceleration Week
Phronesis is selected by the All-China Youth Federation, UNICEF and China Youth Daily for the 2026 Global Youth Development Initiative Acceleration Week. The flywheel is turning.
How we work
A 19-person team that runs like 100
We don’t hire more people to handle more complexity. We automate it. Every repetitive task — stock alerts, approvals, training, store audits, reporting — runs on systems. People do what systems can’t: build relationships, solve novel problems, grow.
Everything in one place
Self-hosted ERPNext runs POS at every Emart counter, real-time batch-tracked inventory, CRM with 6,420 customers, full accounting and 233 live reports. One system, zero silos.
Work that triggers itself
n8n connects the ERP to everything else. Stock drops trigger reorder alerts. Sales hit targets, leaderboards update. New staff enrolled, courses assigned. 38,912 automated notifications delivered.
Intelligence woven in
Staff photograph shelves. An AI pipeline scores merchandising compliance across all locations, no supervisor needed. Beautify reads 14 skin conditions in 2 seconds. Health Investor articles drafted by AI, reviewed by doctors.
Internal training academy
21 courses, 217 lessons, built in Mongolian. Every salesperson trained per health category with quizzes. Knowledge doesn’t leave when people do.
Self-hosted team chat
The whole company runs on our own messaging platform, wired into the ERP. Store channels, project channels, automated alerts. No data leaves our infrastructure.
AI store supervision
Shelf photos → AI review → compliance score → live dashboard. Store managers see every location’s merchandising in real time without visiting.
Gamified sales operations
Live leaderboards turn sales targets into transparent competition. Staff see their standing in real time. No manual reporting. No surprises.
The impediment to action advances action.
What stands in the way becomes the way.

Two active brands. Three lessons learned.

Beautify
AR + AI skin analysis reading 14 conditions in 2 seconds. The technology worked. What we learned: Mongolian consumers needed trust and relationship first, tech second. That insight now shapes how we approach every product launch.

ORAL CARE · PAUSED
Adora
Mongolia’s first zero-plastic toothpaste tablet brand. We proved the product concept worked. What we learned: building a retail habit in a new category takes years of patient distribution, not months. A lesson that directly informs how we grow LAC.

AUDIO · PAUSED
Sonos Books
200+ narrated audiobooks, a full subscription platform, in-house DRM, family profiles. We built the technology entirely ourselves. What we learned: content businesses need content volume and platform distribution that we couldn’t sustain alone. Valuable lesson, wrong timing.
